There are over 25,000 ‘abandoned elderly’ in Armenia – that is, people over 60 who are largely housebound, with no one to care for them. Mission Armenia assists over 6,000 of these elderly through its program of comprehensive, holistic care. Services provided by Mission Armenia include regular meals, medical and legal services, social groups, outings, singing, dancing and knitting classes, and home visits by social workers that cook and clean the homes of the elderly and wash their clothes.
In addition, thanks to the generous giving of ordinary Australians, Mission
Armenian Ltd has been able to provide much-needed winter heating for over
600 elderly in Armenia.
We are now inviting members of the public to sponsor those elderly who have
undergone cataract operations and need lenses and follow-up treatment and
medicines.
