Fifteen years after their arrival in Armenia, over 10,000 Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan and Karabagh continue to live in temporary accommodation. Their dwellings include abandoned resorts and student hostels, railway carriages and portables. Chronic poverty, lack of access to education, basic resources and utilities, discrimination, and social exclusion and isolation are part of the everyday life of these refugees.
Mission Armenia provides comprehensive assistance to these refugees, including
first aid centres, health education, small group sessions, advocacy workshops,
food packages, repairs of ceilings, plumbing and other facilities, interest-free
loans for small businesses and winter heating.
Mission Armenia Ltd provides back-to-school kits for refugee schoolchildren,
and contributes to Mission Armenia’s vocational training program. Mission
Armenia Ltd is also raising funds to provide interest-free loans for refugees
who wish to start small businesses.
